The plan, with all of the slight changes. Opening the center bay of rooms and adding the deck off of the kitchen were the most dramatic and rewarding moves.
The kitchen was a fine layout, but the soffits over the upper cabinets were inelegant, and the tile counters needed to be replaced with something less dreary.
The corner of the kitchen, where there was a table to sit at, felt like it could open up to the yard more. Perhaps even be the entrance to the kitchen. We started thinking about a deck.
Walking from the garage to the side door and into the kitchen. We eliminated the concrete stoop, and the door, replacing the stoop with a nice wooden deck and the door with a window. The entrance to the kitchen was moved up to the corner.
Looking down the hallway to the Master Bathroom and bedrooms. The in-floor heating system was removed and replaced with central heating and air conditioning.
The back of the Family Room, looking out into the back yard. This seemed like a good opportunity to consolidate the openings and clean up the facade. The accordion door into the powder room is visible to the right.
The Family Room, looking out into the hallway. Drawing the plan of the house we realized that there was a connection to the Dining Room hidden behind the green bookshelf.
